Dine on Historic Main Street
Speaking of Caroline’s Restaurant, this dining experience offers unique dishes for any foodie lover. Named after one of Iowa’s first business women and the great-great grandmother of the hotel owners, Caroline Fischer ran her family’s ice business after her husband passed. Today, from the restaurant’s East windows, you can see the Ice Harbor where that very endeavor started more than 150 years ago.
It's a Date!
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, reservations at Caroline’s Restaurant are encouraged for February 14-16, 2020. The Valentine’s Day Weekend feature is $40 per person and includes Minestrone Soup, Chilean Sea Bass, and S’Mores Graham Cracker cake. (The full dinner menu is also be available to order from.)
Catch a Show
Whether it’s at the newest Comedy Bar in town, a show at an innovative theater, or drag performances at a one-of-a-kind venue, Dubuque has an abundance of live entertainment. Check out our event calendar to find out what’s happening when you are in town.
Romantic getaways don’t often bring axe throwing to mind but this can be the perfect date night activity for two. Rent a lane for an hour (or more) and see who can hit the bullseye. On-site coaches will help you perfect your throw if you are a novice axe thrower.
Cheers to Local Brews
Dubuque is full of top notch breweries and coffee shops. Whether you check out Dimensional Brewing Company (located a block from Hotel Julien Dubuque) or local hot spot, Monk’s, you’ll be sure to enjoy brews only found #WhereIowaStarted.
Take a Hike
Explore the great outdoors with your partner by your side. From the 26 mile Heritage Trail that connects Dubuque to Dyersville, to the trails and paths found at Mines of Spain, Swiss Valley, and winding down the Mississippi River, the vistas found along the way are best shared with someone you love.
