With over 1.9 million visitors and $329.27 million in economic impact annually, the tourism industry has been recognized as an integral component in the development and continued prosperity of the Dubuque region. The reinvention of Iowa’s first city over the past 15 years has been a catalyst for the evolution of the Dubuque area as a destination for travel. This same evolution has allowed new opportunities, new partnerships, and new growth.
Tourism impacts the community in many ways, through the number of visitors who come to the area or the dollars that they spend. Each year, we see an increased overall impact that the travel industry has on the community including hotel/motel tax dollars, the number of employees directly related to travel as well as the number of visitors to the area.
