During the cold winter months in Dubuque, visit a coffee house for a warm up. Good food, good drink, and good company are available at many locations.

Located in the Millwork District, Inspire Café offers an industrial chic environment with coffee, tea, beer or wine. Once a month the Café sponsors an English Afternoon Tea for patrons. On weekends, live music enhances the experience. Sipping a craft beer, cappuccino, or glass of wine in front of the fireplace will chase the winter chill. Add a bakery item from Manna Java’s Bakery, or apple bread made from scratch on the premises to complement the drink menu.  If a special treat is in order, try a Death By Chocolate scone with dark chocolate and sweet chocolate to cheer the soul!

Why not try out Jitterz Coffee in downtown Dubuque. Their organic fair trade coffee from around the word is fresh roasted at Badger Brothers in Platteville, Wisconsin. Known for their scones and Chai Tea Lattes, they offer many other treats including ice cream. This popular pot is an excellent place to enjoy a grilled Panini, a veggie burger, or a grilled tortilla wrap sandwich. The fast friendly service at Jitterz will guarantee a return visit.

Jumble Coffee Shop’s drive up business on Wacker Drive has aided many a morning commuter with a tasty treat or much needed caffeine. Now they have expanded to include the Jumble Schoolhouse Coffee Café in Asbury. Located in a former brick schoolhouse, the coffee café is a cozy, comfortable place for breakfast or lunch eat in, or a drive through refreshment.  The renovation of the oldest standing school house in Iowa has maintained the character of the building with its original tin ceiling and exposed brick. Jumble’s menu includes the regular coffee drinks but also specialties such as Turtle Mocha made with chocolate, white chocolate, caramel, and walnuts.  Scones, muffins, breakfast burritos, soufflés, Panini’s, soup and even Mac and cheese provide all appetites with the perfect solution to those mid winter cravings.

Charlotte’s Coffee House at the corner of 11th and White Streets occupies two 1890 and 1900 buildings. Totally renovated, the brick and wood accentuates the cozy friendly atmosphere.  A coffee, latte, cappuccino, smoothie, or hot chocolate in front of the fireplace on a chilly day in Dubuque is a sure way to happiness.  Enjoy a salad, soup, breakfast burrito, flat bread, slice of pie or a cookie too. The relaxed and welcoming ambiance will encourage you to return both to the coffee shop and Dubuque.
